On January 9th, BCCA sponsored a free FDNY CPR Program at our regular meeting location (before our Boro President Candidates Forum at P.S.133 later in the evening). It included a 45 minute basic class on compressions-only CPR, practice on mannequins during the class, and basic instruction on how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). The class was taught by certified FDNY EMS personnel.
Five steps participants were taught: check responsiveness; call 911; send for AED; push hard; push fast.
If you are physically able to perform CPR, it is well worth taking a course. It could someday save a loved one’s life!
