We have just been advised by Senator John Liu’s office that the $250,000 in NYS funding (obtained years ago by then Senator Tony Avella) for a reading garden at the Bellerose Playground, has finally been transferred to the NYC Dept. of Parks and Recreation.  Parks would not begin the project without the money in hand.  The NYC Office of Management and Budget recently received the allocated funds from NYS after a lengthy review process.  The design phase of the project is expected to begin late summer or early fall.
